As we head toward election 2012 the health care issue is heating up. The health plan for the USA is bogged down in the Supreme Court to see if the plan is legit. But wait a minute.. The Lord God had a health plan 1000s of years ago without all the red tape. It seems to me that when money gets in the way of mercy, we need a gut check.
Matthew 5:7 (NIV)
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Psalm 41:1-6 (NIV)
1 Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
2 The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.
3 The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.
Blessed Are The Merciful…
Notice that this Psalm could be entitled, “Blessed Are The Merciful For They Shall Obtain Mercy”.. We need the Lord’s mercy more then we need money. When you are sick and can’t get well all the money in the world can’t heal you. Sometimes we think that because we are not sick at this moment that our bodies are not decaying but i got news for you that death and decay is the trade mark of this world and it is because God’s mercies are brand new everyday that we are able to find some happy moments in a sin sick world.
The word “blessed” carries the idea of one being happy from the inside out. When you’re are happy from the inside out whats going on outside can’t mess with your happiness. The Lord God promises those that have a “regard” or mercy for the weak…i like the King James Version for it Psalm 41:1 (KJV)
1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
We Receive Mercy Not On our Merit But The Goodness Of God
Most all of the time, trouble appears when you least expect it. Trouble is not a respecter of person. There is enough trouble in the world so no one is left out. God’s health care plan comes into play when you show mercy on someone who needs mercy. Not because they so much deserve mercy but it is the right thing to do.
You see God sent is Son who was called Jesus and at the appointed time He died for us on Calvary while were yet sinners. You might say that i wasn’t born yet but because God purposed to save us in Christ before the world begin, He had already made provisions for you and i.
Now in Psalm 41:3
Psalm 41:3 (KJV)
3 The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
Psalm 41:3 (NIV)
3 The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.
God is able to do all He promises and more. If God extends mercy, why not us?
